STENHØJ HYDRAULIK has over more than 25 years, supplied its special designed equipment for the bending of truck chassis frame side members. Our equipment is today being used, directly or indirectly, by well-known International truck manufacturers, such as MAN, DAIMLER, VOLVO, IVECO, SCANIA, DAF, HYUNDAI, Korea, MAZ, Belarus, ASHOK LEYLAND, India, TATA MOTORS, India as well as by well-known sub-suppliers to the truck industry, such as THYSSEN KRUPP Germany, METALSA USA, MAXION SISTEMAS AUTOMOTIVOS Brazil, DANA CORPORATION Brazil and INMAGUSA Mexico (for Freightliner) PRISMA, France.

Our equipment represents a different and innovative way of viewing the manufacturing process and production flow of truck chassis side members with offset.

Traditionally, the bending of chassis side members has been done during the pressing process. Hereby, uncontrollable spring back with deviations in parallelism, undesirable deformations like foldings and angle deviations are well known problems. Stenhøj's offsetting equipment is built to eliminate such problems and the machine is working fully automated, based on CNC technology.

The Stenhøj Bending Machines offer advantages like:
  • No foldings in the flanges
  • No angle deviations in the flanges
  • Accurate positioning of the bending lines
  • Precise displacement, irrespective of steel quality
  • Offsetting of side members with reinforcements in one operation
  • Optimum parallelism
  • No after treatment of the bending points
  • Automatic compensation for spring back through advanced "learning-by-doing" system
  • Offsetting of painted side members (subject to type of paint)
  • Twist (torsion) compensation (option)
  • Communication with a Superior Factory Computer (Plant Master) (option)
Furthermore, the bending machine is able to handle high tensile steel up to 1000 N/mm2, and is equipped with a universal tool, securing complete fixation of the profile, and eliminating any tool change or tool setting time, and enables you to produce side members having up to 4 offsets.

The incentives for our customers to separate the offsetting process from the press operation are numerous, and of which can be mentioned:
  • A determination of the final side member geometry as late as possible in the production flow
  • Savings in tool investments in connection with the U-forming of the sheet metal
  • Entire engineering flexibility of the offset geometry
  • No tool extra costs for later modifications of the offset geometry
  • Elimination of tool change and tool setting time, enabling serial or random production rotation to actual market demands
  • Reduced storage demand, and smoother and faster internal transport of straight side members
Subject to the customers' requirements for level of automation and production capacity, we are also able to offer other modified variants of the Bending Machine, such as reversible design, semi-automatic solutions.

All our machines are delivered fully installed and run-in by Stenhøj personnel, ready to operate, including supervision during production start-up and training course.
